Wairarapa Teen Parent Unit

Puawānanga Wairarapa Young Parents opened in February 2002. It is based on the grounds of Makoura College Masterton and has a roll of 30. This unit is to enable teen parents or expectant mothers 19 years or younger to continue their education.

Continuing Education

Puawānanga Wairarapa Young Parents opened in February 2002. It is based on the grounds of Makoura College Masterton and has a roll of 30. This unit is to enable teen parents or expectant mothers 19 years or younger to continue their education:

  1. We are open 9am to 3pm every day during school terms.
  2. Mākoura Early Learning Centre is in our building and available for your child.
  3. Students are supported to complete their educational goals.
  4. Students have an individual education plan set at their level and pace.
  5. Essential life skills are taught.
  6. Puawānanga is a warm caring environment with the goals of our young people at the heat of the programme.
  7. We provide transport for our students and children.
  8. Course and childcare costs are usually covered by WINZ assistance.
